Most of the Telluride audience really didn't like the McCandless character. Mostly parents. Really pissed off at him. I just think it's a wonderful tragedy.

@hurlywood: we made a mistake.J.J.https://www.blogger.com/profile/07815005929352267468noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10759084.post-73463706207997000052007-09-06T20:51:00.000-04:002007-09-06T20:51:00.000-04:00ugh... rails and ties. cna you believe i sacrifice...ugh... rails and ties. cna you believe i sacrificed a sneak peek at juno to witness that monstrosity?Hurlywoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16439842490550154865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10759084.post-17269845895847444232007-09-06T20:18:00.000-04:002007-09-06T20:18:00.000-04:00Piquant, rebellious, with an undertone of derring-...Piquant, rebellious, with an undertone of derring-do.

Sorry...I wandered into a wine-description parody for a minute there.

*grins*

Hey, it's me. I saw you maybe four hours ago, and it turns out that T., my hubby extraordinaire, posted a link to your LJ, in which you review the movies you saw at Telluride, which you and I had just been talking about. It's one of those things...

Anyway, I want to see ALL of them now, and alas, I'll probably see none, at least not at an actual theater. BUT, I also wanted to say that a student two years ago gave me a copy of Into the Wild, which so captivated me that I read it avidly over every lunch break. I kept it in my desk and would stare at it longingly during classes and grading. And then, at long last, I could open it, read of it, and be filled both with the longing to join the ill-fated adventure and also with a deep sadness at that fate.

Anyway, it was great to see you today, and I love reading your prose, so I'm sure that I'll be back.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
