Oh Sister James...

I have doubts. I have such doubts.

I do not think that they will sing to me

"Isn't life the strangest thing you've ever seen?"

Walking to lunch on Vermont Avenue today, I saw a driver shaking two maracas to the salsa music blaring from his blue Volvo, all of its windows rolled down. He shook the maracas as he steered with his knees.

What's in the styrofoam cup?

That poor girl put her trust in the hands of two men who took her life, she's in a coma, her life is gone. She has no family, she has no home, she's tied to a machine, she has no friends. And the people who should care for her -- her doctors, and you, and me -- have been bought off to look the other way. We have been paid to look the other way. I came in here to take your money. I brought snapshots to show you. So I could get your money. I can't take it. If I take it...if I take that money I'm lost. I'm just going to be a rich ambulance chaser. I can't do it. I can't take it.

This is a test

I re-watched The Dreamers Sunday night on an Aerobed on my veranda, a warm someone next to me, the air thick from the smell of exploding jasmine blossoms.

It was a sensory overload heaped on a weekend of hedonism, so I need to re-set my circuit breakers.

Expect a long, rabbit-holish post about the movie, and my life.

Soon.

He's the only kid ever to get into trouble before he was born

Christopher Lloyd is in those DirectTV commercials. Elisabeth Shue is back in the 'plexes with Gracie. I want to buy this. I've been saying "This is heavy" a lot. This is on a loop in my head. And I've been getting to work in the morning via skateboard (occasionally grabbing hold of car bumpers).

I think my days at Grey Gardens are limited

This is the best thing to wear for today, you understand. Because I don't like women in skirts and the best thing is to wear pantyhose or some pants under a short skirt, I think. Then you have the pants under the skirt and then you can pull the stockings up over the pants underneath the skirt. And you can always take off the skirt and use it as a cape. So I think this is the best costume for today.

I like to watch

Everyone is the other, and no one is himself. The they, which supplies the answer to the who of everyday Da-sein, is the nobody to whom every Da-sein has always already surrendered itself, in its being-among-one- another. Martin Heidegger, 1927

I'm a god. I'm not the God. I don't think...

We are, all of us, growing volcanoes that approach the hour of their eruption; but how near or distant that is, nobody knows -- not even God. Friedrich Nietzsche, The Gay Science (1882)

3 Women on the brain

"She never did anything wrong on purpose. She's just scared of you, that's all. Then she almost died, and nobody even cared around here. You're the bad ones, not Pinky. All you care about's your time clock, your money and your dumb books. Well, you don't have to worry about any Social Security numbers anymore, because I quit. It's a horrible job. And we don't need it. Neither of us."

Tonight, I see Sugar Tits. I mean, Apocalypto. Will report back.
