Panic

Channel-surfing yesterday on the waves of our pirated cable, I passed my favorite, channel 49, and saw nothing but static. I doubled back. Static again. No. Static on every TV in the house. No. Channel 49, you see, is Turner Classic Movies. And it's gone.

Now that's scary...

(Hopefully it's just a cable header thing which can be easily fixed as soon as a subscriber notifies the cable company of the problem.)

OH NO!!!

You do realize that this is the only reason I would ever get cable. And I was just on the verge of maybe finally getting it! Sigh.

Oh, dear.

TCM allows me a chance to at least nibble at the vast feast of cinema I never... uh... (continue this sentence with the food and eating metaphor, something about me focused on junk food, perhaps, but it's great to have something more nutritional, bla bla bla, I dunno...).

Well, I hope this isn't a permanent development in your life.

It's always great to turn on TCM and try to figure out what the hell is playing based on the actors and situations on screen.
Sometimes I figure it out, sometimes I have no frigging idea, but rarely do I ever just react dismissively.

Although, I'll be honest: the choice of Rose McGowan as Robert Osborne's co-host of The Essentials segment is curious.
I mean, I really don't know her at all, and I've seen very little of her work, so I'm probably being judgmental by my bringing this up in the first place.

Still, love TCM.

The Doctor once walked into our "TV room" and saw I was watching TCM and just said, "What's with you and black and white movies?"
This was coming from a big fan of Bogart/Bacall films and THE PHILADELPHIA STORY, too!
I couldn't even say anything, although, besides being speechless I was partly cracking up inside at the preposterousness of the question.
She just sort of snorted and walked back out.

Dames!
